Although I enjoy plants and flowers, I'm one of those people, unfortunately, who can kill air ferns. Artificial plants are a nice alternative for me - as long as they're reasonably lifelike - and when I found this artificial bonsai cherry blossom tree on my Wish List, I was immediately intrigued because, aside from the beautiful look of it in the photograph, it reminded me of my childhood spent in Japan. But after ordering I had serious second thoughts, concerned that it would appear terribly cheap and fake. It arrived and, with these concerns in full force, I opened the package. And boy was I surprised and delighted! It's plastic, absolutely, and not silk as the heading states, but I have to say, even on close inspection, it is an incredibly beautiful piece of work and well worth the money. Every time I look at it, it transports me back to the small village in which we lived, just outside the main gate of Yakota AFB, and the annual Cherry Blossom Festival as it was held there: on a tree-lined hill under a night sky, colored lanterns everywhere and fireworks bursting overhead. The smells of fish cooking. Noodle carts. Women in bright kimonos. Water balloons tossed by children. Japanese music. So, there is certainly a personal bias for me that adds to my enjoyment of this piece, but I think anyone would be as happy to own this as I am because it really is simply beautiful.

Love how realistic the flowers look. Only used two of the flowers from the package and that was enough. It comes wrapped in a circle as can see in picture but was easily able to straighten the flowers out and added the touch I was looking for.
